The Groundwater Technical Committee is a volunteer group that supports the
Hydrology Section of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). Our primary role
is planning and coordination of
technical sessions at the two major annual meetings (Joint Assembly and Fall Meeting).
We welcome participation and input from all AGU members, including student members.
If you have comments or would like to join the committee, please contact the
committee chair, Tim Scheibe (tim.scheibe@pnl.gov).

2008 Joint Assembly
Session proposals are now being accepted for the 2008 Joint Assembly (May 27-30, 2008 in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida), and are due by November 5, 2007. If you have an idea for a session that
should be put forward by our committee please contact the
committee chair, Tim Scheibe (tim.scheibe@pnl.gov) or
submit a session proposal directly on the website.
The following session proposals have been submitted to the Groundwater Committee to date:
- HG01: Sources of water salinities in the Morsott-Laouinet aquifer.
Northern Area of Tébessa. (North East of Algeria).
- HG02: Recent Advances in Hydraulics, Hydrogeology, and Geochemistry
of the Floridan Aquifer System, Central and South Florida
- HG03: Groundwater for Sustainability in Developing Countries
- HG04: Recent Advances in Groundwater Hydrology (Poster Only)
- HG05: Remote sensing and GIS applications in hydrogeoenvironmental microzonation
- HG06: Advances in Understanding Groundwater Flow in Karst Systems
- HG07: Groundwater Management in Coastal Regions
- HG08: Anomalous transport and coupled geochemical processes
Session proposals submitted to other committees or to general hydrology which are of relevance to
this committee are listed here.
Key Dates/Deadlines:
- Session Proposal Deadline: November 5, 2007
- Review of Session Proposals will begin after Nov. 5 and will be completed at the Fall Meeting
(Dec. 10-14, 2007).
- 2008 Joint Assembly Meeting Dates: May 27-30, 2008
2007 Fall Meeting
The 2007 AGU Fall Meeting will be held
in San Francisco December 10-14, 2007. Several interesting sessions were proposed or
sponsored by the Groundwater Technical Committee. Some were combined under the guidance
of the program committee and 14 sessions were included in the abstract call.
Abstract submittal is now closed. Two of our sessions were proposed as Poster Only (H37 and
H39); all 12 others received sufficient response to warrant at least one oral session assignment.
The final program is available on the meeting website.
The Technical Committee will meet during the Fall Meeting to discuss plans for 2008 meetings. The
tentative meeting time is Wednesday December 12 at 6:45 AM (breakfast) but a firm schedule should
be available very soon.
