The purpose of this session is the presentation and discussion of research related to the understanding of the physical, chemical, and biological processes in groundwater resources of developing countries, their management and contamination problems, and the impact of water contamination in human health and in the environment. The session will be focused in papers with multidisciplinary approaches for the study of groundwater from its origin in aquifers, and its pathways to humans and other living organisms. The session should include papers on hydrogeological systems and sustainable groundwater resource management, groundwater contamination and protection, groundwater vulnerability and risk assessment, and groundwater treatment and remediation in developing countries.
